Once upon a time,there lived a young beautiful girl named Elisa.She was 15 years old.Her family consist of her father,her step mother and her step sister.She lived a miserable life under the care of her mother. Her father didn't knew anything because he was always far away from home for work. So,the household was looked after by her mother. In the presence of Elisa's father,her stepmother pretend to love and care for her but in the absence of his father, her mother treated her miserably.

One winter evening, her mother sent her to fetch water when her father was far away from home for a month for work.On her way down to the stream, she heard the news about the selection of the king's wife and the selection process would be after a week.When she heard the news,she was delighted to hear it and wanted to participate in that event. Thinking if she is selected as the king's wife,it would be the end of her miserable life under the care of her stepmother.

Bouncing happily with her hair swaying in the air, bucket of water hanging by her tiny hand she rushed towards home.When she reached home ,she heard her stepmother narrating the news to her stepsister. When she entered the kitchen her stepmother told her that both her and her stepsister would participate in that selection process. She smiled at her stepmother's words as she thought her stepmother wouldn't let her participate. She entered her room with a bright smile. As soon as she entered her room,her stepmother smirked at her.

It was the day before the selection of the king's wife,the criteria for the process of selection was announced....every girl in the kingdom above 13 years of age are to participate in that event and they have to cook for the king. And the king will taste all the meals presented by them. The king will select the best meal and that presenter will be the king's wife.Everyone in all the village was preparing for the ingredients that they had to take with them to the event. Elisa's stepmother was busy preparing the ingredients for her stepsister and didn't care about Elisa at all.Elisa was sulky and went to the mountain to pick her own. There she pick some vegetables and returned home.

It was the day of the selection of the king's wife. Everyone in the village was busy gettingready. Elisa's aunt came to her house and gave her some meat to cook for the event. She packed all her things and went to the event with her stepmother and her stepsister.

At the event, every girl above age 13 throughout the kingdom arrived,they were given a spot for cooking. The king announced that they are allowed to cook starting from now. So everyone make their own fire and started cooking.Elisa made her fire and unpacked her bag.She took out the meat which was given by her aunt and some vegetables that she picked herself in the mountain. Her stepsister also unpacked her things and they all started cooking.

Elisa was a good cook as she always cooked at her house while her sister didn't know anything about cooking as she was treated at home like a princess. Her stepmother was getting nervous thinking Elisa would get selected. She started thinking about how to make her own daughter the queen and not Elisa.After some thinking, an idea was born. She now try to swap the dish of Elisa with her daughter .

Meanwhile Elisa was busy preparing the dish,she cooked the dish with all her heart to win the king. Now everyone finished cooking and was ready to present their work to the king.Her stepmother send Elisa for an errand. As Elisa obeyed her mother she didn't hesitate to object her ,she went as she was told. After Elisa was few walks away her stepmother swapped the dishes in the cooking pot. Now inside Elisa's pot was her stepsister's dish and her stepsister's dish was transferred to Elisa's pot. Further,her stepmother add few hairs into Elisa's pot so that she would never win.

Elisa now returned from the errand. They were now ordered to present their dishes. Everyone move towards the king to present their dish.The king tasted each and every dish. After tasting all the dishes that were presented, the king chose the dish presented by Elisa's stepsister, which originally was Elisa's dish. The king called out her stepsister and announced to take her as his wife.

Upon hearing this,Elisa's teardrops started rolling down her face. All her hopes of ending her miserable life by marrying the king and live a comfortable and happy life all go down the drain. She broke down and started weeping silently.

Upon seeing her stepdaughter Elisa,her stepmother pretend to care for her and started comforting her. Inside she was excited that her real daughter was chosen as the queen. It was a drama played by her.

Now everyone packed their belongings and started leaving the venue one after another. Elisa's stepmother also packed Elisa's belongings and they leave the venue.

In between the venue and their home,there was a dense and dark forest full of wild animals. They had to cross the dense forest before the sun sets. So they walk hurriedly to cross the forest before it was dark. It was already halfway the forest, her stepmother told her that she forgot something really important on the venue and asked her to wait for her. She helped her climb up a tree and told her to wait there and left telling her she would come back soon.

It was nearly dark, she looked at the path her stepmother would take but she never came. She was now really scared as darkness began covering the forest. She cried calling her stepmother but her step mother's voice was nowhere to be heard.

On the other side,her stepmother took another path that leads to their village, leaving her stepdaughter alone in the wild.she didn't just leave her,she abandoned her. To her,her stepdaughter was just a burden. She didn't even regret abandoning her. To her abandoning her stepdaughter was like a thousand years of burden set free.

Meanwhile in the forest, Elisa was still crying and calling for her stepmother. Now she felt tired as she was crying and shouting for her stepmother for hours.

It was midnight,Elisa felt asleep hugging the tree branch. A wicked witch came flying. She stopped as soon as she saw Elisa ,who was fast asleep. She took her to her place. In the morning, Elisa woke up and she saw many unusual things ,things she has never seen before and was in awe. When the witch knew that she had woken up she gave her a potion and told her to drink.

The moment Elisa swallowed the potion, all her past memories were erased. She now lived as one of the witch.
